Family Advocate Program works to keep abused children out of danger and in safe homes, while partnering with parents to build strong families.

We are a private, independent 501 (c)(3) non-profit agency located in Boise, Idaho. Founded in 1978, the Family Advocate Program is the parent agency for two programs:

Guardian and Child

CASA

(Court Appointed Special Advocate)

CASA is committed to the protection and healing of abused and neglected children.

CASA appoints a trained volunteer to a child who has been placed in foster care due to suspected abuse or neglect.

The volunteer visits the child regularly, compiles a detailed profile of the child, submits a report to the court, and follows up to insure that the child receives therapeutic service to heal from the trauma of abuse.

In 2006, CASA protected 720 children. 46% of these children were under the age of six.

CASA protected 685 of 689 children from experiencing further abuse after being returned to their homes.

Families First

Families First is committed to helping parents keep their families strong and give their children the best possible start in life.

Parent educators work closely with parents to create an individual support plan, tailored to the needs of the parents. Together they work to help parent feel more confident about parenting and prepare their children for success in school.

All services to parents are free and voluntary and take place during home visits.

Families First created stronger families for over 250 children by mentoring 258 parents in 2006.

96% of families in the Families First program feel more confident about their parenting skills and 75% practice reading skills with their children.
